Steve proposed during Spring Break 2017 in Sonoma, CA. We were in the Northern California area for the week visiting my friend Victoria and exploring San Francisco, Monterey, and Sonoma and Napa Valleys. Steve and Victoria had hatched a plan to do a private mountain wine tasting on our last day in Sonoma. I should have known something was up, but after a couple glasses of wine, I didn't realize everyone else was nervous! Steve and I went over ostensibly to take a photo with the valley spread out below us and instead he popped the question!
We met through our respective roommates in Lubbock in 2013. Steve and his buddies from college lived in a house in Tech Terrace just a few blocks from me and my roommate, who happened to know Steve's roommates from high school. Although we met a couple times with our friends in the spring of that year, Steve and his friends threw a backyard barbeque during Labor Day 2013. My roommate invited me to join, and I decided to make guacamole. Unfortunately, I stabbed the palm of my hand while cutting open an avocado for the guacamole! I showed up to the party with my hand wrapped up in gauze, and it was then and there that Steve learned just how clumsy I was. It didn't deter him though, and we've been inseparable ever since! At the time, I was studying for the LSAT, and I told Steve that I was going to law school with or without him. So, when I decided to attend UVA Law, Steve packed his bags, transferred with his company and joined me in Charlottesville, VA. We moved back to Texas in August 2017 after I graduated from law school and took the bar exam. We're currently in Dallas where Steve is working with his company and I practice real estate law at a firm.
